Sleep aids: What are they?
Before I talk about products that have been proven to improve sleep, let me first address one of the main concerns about sleep aids: They can cause serious side effects in some people. I have been prescribing sleep aids for my patients for many years, and some of the side effects they can cause are: dizziness, headaches, fatigue, and insomnia. I will discuss the safety of sleeping pills in my article on sleeping pills. But for now, I am going to focus on the benefits of sleep aids and what they do to your body.
1. Sleep aids improve brain function and decrease blood sugar levels, leading to sleepiness. Some of the side effects that people experience are headache, fatigue, insomnia, muscle spasms, heart palpitations, muscle cramps, and irritability. There are also numerous studies showing that a lot of sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and obstructive sleep apnea are caused by low blood sugar levels. 2. Most of the products on the market that help with sleep are very expensive and have limited shelf life. You need to do your homework before you make a purchase. 3. Some of the most popular sleep aids have proven to be extremely toxic to the body.
